Frizz in Humid Weather: A Gentle Hair Mist Routine
If your hair looks smooth at home and fuzzy five minutes after stepping outside, humidity is the culprit. The late monsoon months are especially hard on hair across much of India.
Why Hair Frizzes
Hair that is dry or slightly damaged has a raised outer layer, the cuticle. In humid air it absorbs moisture unevenly, strands swell and bend in different directions, and frizz appears. Smoother, well-conditioned hair absorbs less of that moisture, so it stays calmer.
The Gentle Anti-Frizz Routine
In the shower
Use a mild, sulphate-free shampoo on the scalp only.
Always follow with [[LINK:/product/hair-conditioner|conditioner]] on the lengths.
Finish with a cool rinse.
After washing
Blot with a cotton T-shirt or microfibre towel instead of rubbing.
Spray a light leave-in mist on damp lengths.
Comb with a wide-tooth comb, starting from the ends.
Air-dry where possible, or use low heat.
During the day
Keep a mist in your bag. Two or three sprays of our Hair Mist Spray, smoothed over with your palms, calm flyaways and refresh hair without the weight of oil.
Frizz is hair asking for moisture. Give it the right kind, in the right amount.
Habits That Help
Avoid touching your hair through the day.
Choose loose braids or buns on very humid days.
Sleep on a smooth pillowcase.
Oil the lengths before washing once a week — see our [[LINK:/blogs/does-oiling-really-reduce-hair-fall-facts-vs-myths|guide to hair oiling]].
Why does my hair get frizzy in humidity? Dry hair has a raised cuticle that absorbs moisture from the air unevenly, causing strands to swell and frizz.
Does hair mist help with frizz? A light leave-in mist can help calm flyaways and soften hair between washes.
Should I oil my hair daily for frizz? Usually not. Oil before washing once or twice a week, and use a light mist for daily touch-ups.
